Amber Kamilah
Artist
Amber was the co-creator of the It’s Only Human art and science exhibition and contributed original pieces to the show.
Her work used patterns and illusions that subtly change based on the viewers’ distance from the subject to represent that ways that we allow stereotypes to shape our impressions of others.
Amber Kamilah is interested in exploring how an understanding of learning processes can lead to change at the individual and systemic levels. She believes that art and expression is one of the most accessible and provocative ways to catalyze change and deep learning. In her work with Project Zero (PZ) at Harvard Graduate School of Education, Amber helped launch an inquiry into the ways antiracism and classism appeared in various aspects of PZ’s work. Amber has designed and facilitated programs for youth, young adults and women in Boston and Atlanta on a range of topics, including spiritual fulfillment, liberation and social justice. Amber enjoys walking miles after a plant-based meal, possessing #blackgirlmagic, connecting with nature and being free. — via pz.harvard.edu

She creates full brand makeovers, punchy illustrations, and merchandise that reminds viewers and clients that design can be fun. She’s also a big advocate for the planet, which shows up in her work through her recurring plant motifs. When she’s not designing, you can catch her at her favorite place… her house. She’s a firm believer that there’s nothing like comfy clothes, home brewed coffee, and a good book. — via kathrynbethard.com
