PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project offers participants insight into the roles of emergence and interdependence in large-scale environmental phenomena, such as climate change and ocean acidification. Imagined by Sam Galison in collaboration with The Plenary, the piece will serve as a meeting point between creative inquiry and the science of conceptual change.
Project Goals
01/
Multisensory Experience
Careful craft and material selection creates a unique atmosphere to experience the piece.
02/
Participation
The work is not complete until participants actively interact with it.
03/
Storytelling
The sculpture is presented in broader storytelling contexts, such as a dining experience.
Experience emergence through a multisensory sculpture.
LED BY MULTIMEDIA ARTIST, SAM GALISON
“Body Colony” is an interactive sculptural installation that offers participants insight into the roles of emergence and interdependence in large-scale environmental phenomena, such as climate change and ocean acidification.
Imagined by Sam Galison and The Plenary, the piece will serve as a meeting point between creative inquiry and the science of conceptual change. It leverages the power of tactile experience to investigate critical concepts underpinning sustainability. As with much of Galison’s studio work, “Body Colony” is grounded in making complex ideas comprehensible in a visceral, immediate way.
